We’re looking for a hands-on Build Engineer to play a pivotal role in taking advanced aerospace hardware from concept through to first build and into production. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in fast-moving, high-ownership environments and enjoys solving hard engineering problems at the intersection of design, manufacturing, and physics.
You’ll work closely with Design, Test, and Production teams to ensure new hardware is not only high-performance, but also manufacturable, scalable, and reliable.
The Day-to-Day:
- Take end-to-end ownership of prototyping and first-article builds for new hardware designs
- Partner with Design Engineers to deeply understand system requirements, challenge assumptions, and influence designs using first-principles thinking
- Drive manufacturability from day one by prototyping components with integration, performance, cost, and production constraints in mind
- Serve as the manufacturing lead for new products, ensuring smooth transition from early builds into production
- Ensure designs are production-ready by providing clear DFM/DFA feedback and validating implementation at manufacturing sites
- Own tooling and configuration control, including drawings, BOMs, revisions, and part configurations, in alignment with aerospace standards and internal documentation processes
- Function as the subject-matter expert for assigned manufacturing processes and technologies
The Ideal Profile:
- 1–6 years of experience in manufacturing, build, or production engineering within the aerospace industry
- A background in fast-paced startup environments or high-intensity organizations
- Strong foundation in mechanical design and manufacturing processes
- Proven ability to apply first-principles engineering to production challenges
- Proficiency with CAD tools, PLM/PDM systems, and configuration management
- Solid working knowledge of GD&T and Materials & Processing (M&P)
- Comfortable owning problems end-to-end and working hands-on with hardware
This is a high-impact role with real ownership. You’ll influence how cutting-edge aerospace hardware is designed, built, and scaled, alongside driven engineers in an environment that values speed, rigor, and technical excellence.
