We’re working with a leading energy technology company developing next-generation power and energy systems, and they’re looking for a Principal Engineer – Embedded Linux / Systems Architecture to join their Austin engineering team.
This is a hands-on opportunity for an experienced engineer who enjoys working across embedded Linux, hardware, and system architecture. You’ll help define the software architecture, work closely with hardware teams, and take products from initial design through production.
The Role
- Define and develop Embedded Linux platforms and system architecture
- Work on BSPs, device trees, bootloaders, and Linux configuration
- Develop software in C, C++, and Python
- Work closely with hardware engineers on board bring-up and driver development
- Integrate Linux systems with real-time control systems
- Design scalable software platforms that can be reused across products
- Lead technical decisions, architecture reviews, and software development standards
- Mentor engineers and provide technical leadership across the team
- Support products through development, testing, production, and field deployment
What You Bring
- 12+ years of embedded systems experience
- Strong experience with Embedded Linux
- Experience with BSP development, device trees, and Linux kernel configuration
- Strong C/C++ and Python skills
- Experience with hardware/software integration and board bring-up
- Experience developing embedded systems for production
- Strong understanding of system architecture and real-time systems
- Experience leading technical projects and mentoring engineers
- Comfortable working closely with hardware and cross-functional engineering teams
