A fast-growing energy technology company is seeking a Staff Firmware Engineer to develop and validate firmware for next-generation power conversion and inverter systems.

This is a hands-on role combining embedded software, real-time control, hardware bring-up, and system-level debugging.

What You'll Do

  • Develop real-time firmware primarily in C/C++
  • Implement and optimize embedded control algorithms
  • Bring up and debug power electronics hardware
  • Perform unit testing, simulation, HIL, and prototype validation
  • Work closely with hardware and controls engineers on firmware/hardware co-design
  • Troubleshoot complex system-level issues
  • Contribute to development infrastructure and automated testing
  • Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership

What You Bring

  • BS/MS/PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
  • 8+ years relevant experience with BS, 6+ with MS, or 3+ with PhD
  • Expert-level C/C++, with strong software architecture and algorithm fundamentals
  • Deep experience with bare-metal and real-time embedded systems
  • Strong understanding of RTOS, multithreading, and embedded architectures
  • Experience with ARM Cortex-M platforms and peripherals including ADC, PWM, SPI, and GPIO
  • Strong hardware debugging skills using oscilloscopes, protocol analyzers, and similar tools
  • Familiarity with GCC, GDB, CMake, Make, Git, and modern development workflows
  • Experience with CI/CD and containerized development environments

  • Zephyr RTOS
  • PID/control loops and digital signal processing
  • CAN or other industrial communications
  • Embedded or desktop Linux
  • Grid simulators and programmable loads
  • AI-assisted software development workflows
